In a time of what seems like constant stress and confusion, many of us feel vastly under-resourced—like we might not have what it takes to face each day. But each of us have within us the capacity to develop lasting resources that we can call on in challenging times. These resources are known as the Five Spiritual Powers, sometimes called the Five Spiritual Faculties, and consist of Faith (Confidence), Energy (Courage), Mindfulness, Collectedness (Concentration), and Wisdom. All of us, no matter our background or experiences, possess the seeds of what is needed to nurture these qualities within ourselves.

Over the course of this five week course, we’ll investigate all five of the spiritual powers, first learning how to notice where and when they are present and not present.

With the help of teacher Elaine Retholtz, you’ll work on cultivating these skillful qualities of mind and uprooting the tendencies that cloud the mind and heart.

Together we’ll discover how to incorporate awareness of the five spiritual powers into our meditation practice and our daily lives. These special qualities of mind lead us to greater degrees of freedom from our habitual habits and reactivity.
